Week of 1/24

Last week in Social Studies we talked about the past, present, and future. We learned the importance of placing events in history and how to read a timeline. Room 4 made their own "class timeline" of events that have happened from September-January. The class took turns reading their events and placing them in the correct place on the board. It was fun to see what events stuck out in the kids memories!

Dear Parents,

The kids have been doing really well with memorizing the long vowel patterns and spelling words. I know these words are harder and trickier but the kids have been finding the different patterns we have learned so far everywhere! We have another full we before Catholic Schools Week starts on Sunday. Look below for an outline of what to expect! Here are the reminders for the week:

- If you have not been a Mystery Reader yet, please be sure to sign up this week! I think the month of May and June still need some slots to be filled.

- We will have a math test on 10 more/less and 1 more/less on Tuesday. A review will be sent home for homework tonight.

- If you would like to send in rosary beads for your child, please do so. We will start saying a decade of the rosary every Friday as a class.

- We will have a Religion test on Chapter 9 on Friday. A study guide was sent home today.

- You can send in your MLK Bags of Service this and next week and any shampoo donations. Thank you!

- Catholic Schools Week begins at Mass on Sunday! Be on the look out for an email with more detailed information about the Virtual Talent Show, SKS Spirit Family Pics and Art Activity!

The kids did a great job learning greater than
and less than last week!

We had fun with our alligator stick friends!

Dear Parents,

I hope the kids enjoyed their first snow day of the year! I don't know about you, but I felt like it was much needed even though it was out first week back! We'll take our tests today that we were supposed to take on Friday and start our new story for the week. Here are the rest of the reminders:

- We did a supply check today. Lots of kids are in need of new sharpened pencils, glues sticks, crayons etc. If you could check with your child this week and grab some new supplies in the next week or two that would be great!

- With the cold weather, please be sure to mark all outerwear with your child's name!

- Spelling words will increase from 8 to 10 this week! They have been doing an excellent job with these!

- Wednesday is a Dress Down Day for the BVM School in North Philadelphia. Their school was flooded and then broken into, burglarized and vandalized. Please send in $1.00 to dress down. Thank you!
