March 27th

Dear Parents,

I hope you had a great weekend! This is our last full week before Spring Break and we'll continue working hard becoming responsible and independent "almost second graders."  Here are the reminders for this week:

- There will be a Religion test on Thursday. A study guide will be sent home today.

- On Thursday we will celebrate the Phillies Opening Day! The kids can dress down and lunch will be provided for the kids! If you are not a hotdog fan you might want to pack a lunch.

- There will be reading and spelling tests this Friday.

- If you have any gently worn shoes, you can send them in this week! They will be donated to Soles for Souls.

- Just a reminder that there is only school on Monday and Tuesday next week! School will resume on Wednesday, April 12 and spring uniforms start that day!

That is all for now! Have a great week!

Week of 3/20

Dear Parents,

We had so much fun building showing off our leprechaun traps last week. Their creativity and engineering skills blew me away. We had so much fun looking at each others traps and Lucky the Leprechaun even stopped by while we were at STEM! He trashed our place and triggered some traps.

Spring is here and Easter is around the corner. Here are the reminders for this week:

- Tomorrow we will celebrate World Down Syndrome Day! The kids may "rock their socks" to school with their regular school uniform tomorrow!

- Report cards will be sent home tomorrow. You may keep the report card at home. Please sign and return only the envelope!

- Test folder will be sent home Wednesday. Please and sign and return on Thursday!

- There will be a math test on time on Friday. A review will be sent home for homework on Thursday.

Have a great week!

Mrs. Barausky

Week of 3/6

I had the best time watching the girls perform
at the Irish Dance Recital on Friday! They all did excellent:)

The kids are doing a great job with money!

I will send home their bag of coins on Thursday after the test.

Dear Parents,

I can't believe this is my final week with the kiddos! I have so many emotions swirling around these days, but most of all I feel extremely blessed to be have been able to work with each one of your children the past six months. They were responsible for making me laugh and smile each day, while also keeping me busy and a helpful distraction at times. There are not enough thank you's for all of your unwavering support since the beginning of the school year. I am so grateful for everything you have done for myself and your children. As I keep reminding the kids, this is not the last they will see of me! They are in amazing hands with Mrs. Barausky! Feel free to begin to cc her on any communication going forward so she can get used to and familiar with the different names. tbarausky@sksschool.org

The second trimester closes this Friday and I can assure you that this last trimester will FLY by. In this final trimester, we really focus on responsibility, independence and self control. We talk a lot about being "almost second graders" and what being in second grade entails. One of the best parts of teaching first grade is seeing the growth that each child makes in 9 short months. Thinking back from September until now they are completely different kiddos! I am sure you see it too :)

- Grades 2 and up will be taking the Terra Nova tests this week, but we will be having a normal week and start a new story!

- We will have a math test on money on Thursday. The kids have been doing really well with this and we will continue to practice this week to prepare for the test! A review will be sent home for homework on Wednesday.

- No school for students on Friday! Enjoy the long weekend!

- Don't forget leprechaun traps should be sent to school next Friday, March 17th!

Have a great week!
