Week of 2/28

Dear Parents,

Can you believe it is March? This week we will be working hard reviewing long vowels, learning about money and preparing for the Terra Nova tests which will be taken next week. A schedule and a few tips will be sent home this week.

Here are the reminders for this week:

- If you did not send in coins with your child, please do so ASAP! (4 quarters, 10 dimes, 20 nickels and 25 pennies).

- I will be out of town on Thursday (3/3) and Friday (3/4). Tricia Boyes will be in the classroom subbing for me. I will have limited access to email so please let me know of any transportation changes ahead of time.

- Test folders will be sent home Tuesday. Please sign and return on Wednesday!

- We will celebrate Ash Wednesday with Mass at 9:00am. All are welcome to join!

- There will be a Reading and Spelling test on Friday.

- Don't forget to have your child look up some leprechaun traps and start gathering the materials that they will need to build their own the week of 3/14.

We will begin our unit on money this week! We will learn to identify the coins and how much they are worth and practice counting. If you practice at home remember to start counting with the coins and that are worth the most!

Week of 2/21

The kids had so much fun celebrating the 100th day of school!

We had some fun with the "age booth" app and wrote about

"When I am 100...." There answers were pretty comical, be on the look out for these

when they come home!

Dear Parents,

I hope you all had a great holiday weekend! Can you believe we celebrated our 100th day of school last week?! This year is just flying by. This week we will start our next unit in reading. A new Reader's Notebook will be going home for homework for this week. Here are the rest of the reminders:

- We will start a new unit in reading! A new Reader's Notebook will be sent home today.

- We will have a test in math on Friday on double digit addition and subtraction (no regrouping) and math facts with sums to 20. A review sheet will be sent home as homework on Thursday.

- We will have a Religion test on Chapter 11 on Friday. A study guide will be sent home today.

- We will be starting our unit on money next week. If you could send in a ziplock bag labeled with your child's name with 4 quarters, 10 dimes, 20 nickels and 25 pennies that would be really helpful! Thank you!

- For the next few weeks we will also be preparing and reviewing for the Terra Nova test which will be taken the week of March 7th.

- Be on the look out this week for some information on Leprechaun Traps! We will be building them in school during the week of March 14th! The kids just need to collect supplies at home and bring them in that week. The information will give you plenty of ideas!

Happy Valentine's Day! We will finish up the last story in our reader this week! We will start a new unit and get a new workbook next week. We will also be starting a new math unit this week and practice adding and subtracting sums and differences under 20. Here are the rest of your reminders for the week:

- Dress down day on Tuesday! Please bring in $1.00.

- Please join us in the Church or virtually tomorrow night for the Home and School Meeting. Sr. Pat is a great speaker!

Week of 2/7

On Monday the first grade met with their buddies and had 

a little retreat in the gym. Lots of thinking and self reflection was done.

The boys loved crazy 8 day/crazy hair day!

So did the girls!

Cora, Christina, Leland, Ellie, and Brooke represented 

room 4 in the first vs second grade spelling bee. Ellie

was the last man standing for room 4! They all did EXCELLENT!

There were four winners this year! Franklie Lively and Will Grisser from second

grade and Charlie McLaughlin and Nicholas Piazza from first!

Hero day on Wednesday was great! We had a few Mrs. Hallinans.

Some tears may have been shedded.

Another Mrs. Hallinan! The girls really committed to 

the look with the headbands!

Some girls chose to dress up as their moms!

Crowd favorite...Mr. Tosti!

The class loved the Stem Challenge and working with their buddies. 

Thursday was Mr. Tosti's birthday! The class wrote some great cards!

Nolan got called to participate in the gym fun! Nolan did great during

the mummy contest.

Christina represented room 4 in the hula hoop competition..she was deemed winner!

We closed out CSW with pajama day and a half day!

It was a fun filled week!

The faculty all dressed up as Mr. Tosti for our hero! He will be missed!

We had a great time during Catholic School Week! Thank you for all of your donations! You can check out some pictures above from the week. There are a few reminders for this week:

Valentine's Day info:

- please have all valentines sent to school no later than Friday, February 11th. We will be decorating bags for the valentines! There are 19 students in our class!

- No candy is permitted

- There will be a math test on skip counting and even and odd numbers on Thursday.

- There will be Religion test on Chapter 10 on Friday. A study guide will be sent home today.

- Check with your child if they need more index cards for their sight words. A few today had to borrow from friends.
