Week of 1/25

We watched and talked about the inauguration last week!

On Friday we practiced saying the rosary and prayed
for Kathy Panero's father.

Dear Parents,

The kids have been doing really well with completing homework and memorizing the long vowel patterns and spelling words. I know these words are harder and trickier but the kids have been finding the different patterns we have learned so far everywhere! We have a nice normal 5 day week this week! Here are the reminders:

- Tuesday night at 7:00 pm is a Virtual Home and School Meeting. Dr. Cheri Lovre will be speaking about dealing with mental health and Covid with children. The teachers had the opportunity to meet virtually with Cheri on our in-service day and she was wonderful! I hope you take the time to sign on a listen! The Zoom link was sent out via email through Option C.

- We will have a math test on 10 more/less and 1 more/less on Tuesday. A review will be sent home for homework tonight.

- We will have a Religion test on Chapter 9 on Friday. A study guide was sent home today.

- Test folders will be sent home Tuesday. Please sign and return all the tests by Wednesday.

- A reminder to please clear out your child's take home folder at night. With beginning homework, there is a lot more being sent home!

- You can send in your MLK Bags of Service this week and any shampoo donations. Thank you!

Week of 1/18

Last week in Social Studies we talked about the past, present, and future. We learned the importance
of placing events in history and how to read a timeline. Room 4 made their own "class timeline" of events that have happened from September-January. The class took turns reading their events and placing them in the correct place on the board. It was fun to see what events stuck out in the kids memories!

Dear Parents,

I hope you had a nice weekend! Today we talked about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and why he is an important part of history and a great role model! The kids did great completing homework last week. Each week they should be getting more independent with completing it! Here are your reminders for the week:

- The MLK Bags are Service can be returned to school next week! First grade has been asked to donate shampoo as well. If you would like to donate some, you can send it in anytime this or next week! Thank you!

- Our virtual Monthly Mass will be this Thursday at 9:00 am. Please join us! Virtual students do not need to sign on until 10:30 am on mass days!

- We will have a reading and spelling test this Friday on the story and words for "Seasons".

Week of 1/11

Room 4 Wishes Catherine a Happy Belated
Birthday! Catherine's birthday was on New Year's Day!

Dear Parents,

Thanks for a great virtual week! The kids were great, but I am happy to be back in school! We will continue to work on being self starters and gaining independence during this second half of the year! Here are the reminders for this week:

- Homework will start this week! It would be great to set a up a homework routine with your child this week. The kids should be able to open their homework copybook and find the pages in each workbook. They should also try to read the directions on the pages or worksheets independently and start their work. I know this might take a little more time in the beginning and maybe even cause some frustration, but it is a great way to build independence. Of course, if your child needs help, please help them, but know that the more they try to do by themselves the better off they will be. They should also be responsible for putting their books back in their schoolbag!

- The sight words and spelling words will also increase from 8 to 10 this week! They have been doing an excellent job with these!

-Test folders will be sent home today. There are a lot of assessments in the folder. Please make sure you look through each one and sign it. Please return by tomorrow!

- There will be a Religion test on Chapter 8 on Wednesday.

- Wednesday is a Dress Down Day for the Remar family. Please send in $1.00 to dress down and continue to keep the Remar's in your prayers.

- There is no school on Friday. A few asynchronous activities will be assigned to be completed.

- There is no school on Monday, January 18th for MLK Day.

- Our class will be collecting items for the MLK Day Bags of Service. Once our class is assigned the item I will email you! If you would also like to make a "bag a service," they can be picked up at school on MLK Day between 10am and 12:00pm. The flyer was attached to the weekly email!
